Royal Scottish Country Dance Society

We offer opportunities to dance to, learn, practice and enjoy the country dances of Scotland through Classes, Parties, Workshops and Special Events.

We hold classes in Scottish Country Dancing for beginners through advanced at several locations in the greater Seattle area.  We also have monthly parties, special occasion  events,  and host the Fort Worden Scottish Country Dance Weekend Workshop annually  in September.

We are people of all ages and backgrounds who enjoy music, dancing, and good company. No prior dance experience is necessary to get started with this dancing style and partners are not required.  It's a great way to meet new people socially and keep active physically.

Interested in trying Scottish Country Dancing? Come by yourself or with a friend. You need not be Scottish to enjoy the fun.  Wear flat, soft-soled shoes without heels and come have a good time.  A kilt is not required!  As you begin to master Scottish dances, you will become familiar with reels, strathspeys and jigs and master a Poussette, pas de basque and an allemande.  Look at our class locations for the one you are nearest to and come try this traditional dance form.  On our dance calendar you will see where we are dancing next.

Scottish Country Dancing is the traditional ballroom dancing of Scotland. The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS), based in Edinburgh, was founded in 1923 to preserve this joyful, social dance tradition. Since then Scottish Country Dancing has spread all over the world.

Did you ever go to a Scottish event where the whole group linked hands at the end of the evening and sang Auld Lang Syne?  We often do.  Here are the words to Auld Lang Syne.  We promise you that you will meet new folks who are passionate about dancing.  Come Join Us.
