The Seattle Branch Calendar year begins on July 1 for membership.  If you complete your membership form and submit it, you will get the reduced member rate for the summer class.  See Membership page for a form with prices.

Dancing in Greater Seattle

Redmond Class will meet on Sundays, located at the DanceWorks Studio, 16641 Redmond Way, Redmond, WA  classes will be from 6-8 PM, taught by Lea Maiolo.  Classes will be every Sunday unless specified otherwise in the Calendar. Classes run through Dec. 13.  Contact Lea M  if you need further info.  New dancers are most welcome as well as on-going dancers.   Classes start Sept. 20.
Fees: per class fee  members $8. / non-members $10.
Half quarter (7 classes) fee:  members $48. / non-members $60.
Full quarter (13 classes) fee:  members $90. / non-members $110.

U-District at the University Heights Building - will  meet on Tuesdays starting October 6  from   8:00 - 9:55 PM. rm. 108.  U-Heights Center is at 5031 University Way NE, Seattle.  Teacher is Ian Sullivan.  

Lake Forest Park Scottish Dance Classes will meet on Wednesdays  from 7:15 - 9:30 PM  at the Northwest Ballet Studio on the lower level of Lake Forest Park Towne Center, 17171 Bothell Way NE, WA.   This is for all levels of dancers.    Main teacher is Elinor Vandegrift. 
Fees:  1st time at this class is free - come join us.
Single class fee:  members $8. / non-members $10.
Multi-week Pass:
  members: 6 wk pass $42. / 12 wk pass $84.
  non-members:  6 wk pass $54. / 12 wk pass $108.

Wenatchee Scottish Dance Classes will be on Thursdays
at the Irish Dance Studio, 151 Worthen St.,Wenatchee from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.  Lesley Allan is the teacher.  Give Lesley a call if you need more info (509.663.3743)  or to join in their class  if you are over there. Refer to the Calendar for current dates.

Challenge Class resumes this Fall on the first Sunday afternoon of the Month at U Heights, room 109, from 1-3PM.  Elinor Vandegrift is the person for this class.  This class will start Oct. 4, Nov. 1, and Dec. 6.  We hope to see a lot of interested dancers for this; it will continue in 2016 if there are adequate numbers.  The criteria for this class is as follows.


Dancers must know all basic formations (e.g., pousette, 2- and 3-couple allemande, corner figures)

-Dances must be able to dance in time to the music

Dancers must be comfortable dancing all five steps (e.g., skip change, pas de basque, slip step, strathspey traveling, strathspey setting)

Dancers must be able to dance basic formations in a dance with a talk-through only

Dancers must be able to dance more advanced formations (e.g., the knot) in a dance with one walk-through

Dancers must strive to improve personal technique and teamwork through feedback and practice (e.g., improve steps, handing, transitions between steps and formations, covering, phrasing)

  • Tacoma - Classes will be at the Asia Pacific Cultural Center, 4851 S. Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA in the fall.  (new location)  Basic steps, no partner required.  Led by Meg Henderson. Dancing will be from 5 - 7 pm on 2nd and 4th Sundays, starting 9/27/2015.  Contact Meg and check out their facebook page "Scottish Country Dancers Tacoma".

Monthly Dances & Special Events Fees - Greater Seattle

Monthly Dances with recorded music fee: members $10.00 / non-members $15.00 (student with Id $5./$10.)

Monthly Dances with live music fee: members  $15.00  / non-members $20.00 (student with Id $10./$15.)

Special Event Dances with live music have unique charges.  Contact the Branch Chairman (See Contacts page) if you will to get further information, or ask the teacher at the class you are at.  Any unique charges are posted with the event in the Dance Calendar.
