Dancing in Greater Seattle: Winter 2012

Challenge Class on the First Friday of the month resumes in January.  Beginning Jan. 6, th class will be back at the last location,   Phinney Neighborhood Center (6532 Phinney Ave. N., Seattle); in January the room is rm. 7 upstairs.  Heads up:  Starting in February, this class will move to the Second Friday of each Month.  Classroom after that to be decided.    Class meets  from 7:25-9:25 PM. (but come a few minutes early for transition)  and often the group goes to a local place after for dessert and social. Generally there are live musicians for this evening.  The Calendar page provides classrooms when known.  Class fee is $7. for members and $9. for non-members.
 

  Lake Forest Park  classes.  The Eastside class begins again on Jan. 10 on TUESDAYS  at  Lake Forest Park, lower mall at the Northwest Ballet Center ( 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park)  from 7:30 - 9:30 PM.  This will be a 'social class' and all are welcome. There are food spots there if you come early or afterwards. The floor is lovely - wood sprung for our dancing feet, located between Third Place Books and the remodeled KC library.   Contact Elinor V. if you have further questions.
 

University District  Classes.  Tuesdays, Jan. 17 - Mar. 6 (8 weeks)
Offering beginning Scottish Country Dance from 8:00 - 9:00 pm.  To register, go to the Experimental College website (exco.org)  Cost for this class is $48 per session ($32. for students & under 21).
Intermediate class will also be on Tuesdays, from 8:00 - 9:50 PM.  Email to excoscd@gmail.com for further information. The class is for those having completed 2 full beginner classes and having a grasp of the steps.  This class will be at fees for  RSCDS Branch members $64 per session ($40. for students and under 21) and $80. for non-branch members ($56. for students & under 21).

Mukilteo Classes will occur on Wednesday evenings. Led by Irene P.  Please contact her for information on the time and place.  pastpres@rscds-seattle.org  All levels welcome.
 

Redmond Classes on Sundays in the evening-Winter 2012.   This class will be from Jan. 15 - April 15th from 6:30 -  8:30 PM.   New dancers are welcome. This  class  welcomes all dancers to the Danceworks Studio, Redmond, WA., 16641 Redmond Way, Redmond, WA 98052.  Cost for a full session is $75 members/ $85 non-members, a half season is $45 members/ $50 non-members and drop-ins per class  $7 members/ $9 non-members.    Contact Lea M. for more info.  at leamaiolo@gmail.com   Note- there is one last class to be held Jan. 8th which is a make-up from last qtr., December.

 

Sunday Step Dancing-Winter 2012.     This will be a general level class from 4:30 -5:30 PM running from Jan. 8 - April 15.    Beginners Welcome.  Also located at Danceworks Studio, 16641 Redmond Way, Redmond, WA. Cost is to be determined at the start of classes for the 10 week session.  Contact Elizabeth  at  atlargemember2@rscds-seattle.org    for more information.

 

Phinney Neighborhood Center  Branch class  on Thursdays was stopped in early October due to lack of attendance. 

 

Wenatchee Classes led by Leslie A. will be meet on Mondays from 7-9 PM at the Wenatchee Irish Dance Studio, 151 Worthen St., Wenatchee.  Give Lesley a call if you need more info (.3743) or just come and see.
 

Kitsap area - Silverdale, WA.   Classes begin on Sept. 18. After that classes will be the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month.  Dennis will be teaching this class.   Contact: poulsboinfo@rscds-seattle.org

• Tacoma - Fridays at the Normanna Hall has had to cancel its classes for this fall 2011.  They plan to have a session for Scottish dancing in the winter 2012 and there will be information on this later.
