HAPPY NEW YEARS 2015

March 2015                                 

  • TAC Summer School 2015 is now open to all Scottish Country Dancers for registering.  This year it will be held at Longwood University, Farmville, VA, USA. from Sunday July 26 through Sunday August 2.   Plan a summer vacation around this opportunity to enhance your basic teaching skills in SCD.  This event does fill up so consider registering soon.  The attached flyer will get you started.
     

  • If you wish to dance with the Caledonians  at Phinney Neighborhood Center contact  Victoria Johnson who leads this group and get further information.
     

  • Mar. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 (Sun.) - Redmond's Winter Qtr. classes are at the DanceWorks Studio, 16641 Redmond Way, Redmond WA., from 6-8pm.   See the Classes page of this website for cost and contact info to reach Lea M. if you have further questions.  The qtr. runs through Mar. 29.  This class is beginning practice of special dances for the All's Faire Festival in June.   Quick news: class is canceled for Sunday 3/15.
     

  • Mar. 3, 10 (Tues.) - U-District classes are at the University Heights Building, 5031 University Way NE, classroom 108, from 8:00 - 9:55PM.  Teacher is Rachel P.  Open to all, new and returning.  Details on the Classes page of this website for rates and contact if you wish to reach Rachel. This is a fast paced class.  Break runs from Mar. 17 to Apr. 6 with classes beginning for Spring Qtr. on Apr. 7 to Jun. 2.
    Mar. 17 (Tues.) -  U- District class end of Qtr.  party at Eric & Meredith's, from 8-10PM.  1655 10th Ave. E., Seattle 98102. (Capitol Hill north end, just off E Garfield St just before St. Mark's Cathedral.)
     Bring finger food or drinks to share for the gathering.
     

  • Mar.  4, 11, 18,  25 (Wed.) - Classes are at Lake Forest Park from 7:15 -9:30 PM. weekly (At the Northwest Ballet Center, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park Towne Center.  Questions:  Call 425.488.7643)   Newcomers are welcome - your first class is free.  A partner is not necessary; wear comfy clothes and soft indoor shoes.  Enjoy fun, fitness and friendship.   Teacher is Elinor V.  Further information on the Classes page where the qtr. start/stop dates are given.  Winter Qtr. ends with Mar. 25 and Spring Qtr. begins 4/8 running until  5/13.
     

  • Mar. by arrangement  (Wed.) - Classes may continue with Irene P.  in Mukilteo.  Please call or email her for further information if you'd like to attend and  for location directions.
     

  • Mar. 5, 12, 19, 26 (Thur.) - Wenatchee Scottish Dance Classes will continue at the Irish Dance Studio , 151 Worthen St, Wenatchee,   from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.  Classes page has further info.  Call Lesley A. teacher (509.663.3743) if you need further information or are traveling through the area and would like to join in.
     

  • Mar. 14 (Sat.) - RSCDS Portland Oregon Branch invites you to their 36th Annual Workshop and Ball, to be held in Lake Oswego, Or, with musicians Deby Benton-Grosjean and Cynthia Soohoo, and teachers Roberta Gotfried and Bob McMurtry.  See their flyer for details  and to register.  Email  Linda Mae if you have questions.

     

  • Heads Up - May 31, Sunday, is Nannette's 60th Birthday Ball in Mt. Vernon, WA., given to all of us from she and Rodney as a gift for celebrating.  They need a final number of those attending by April 18.  So check out the details on May 31 below and get her your rsvp if you wish to attend.  Cues are given there also.  You can RSVP to brandtlings@gmail.com, so confirmation, and further information can be sent to you.  Cribs and directions for this event are below on May 31 date.

April 2015                                    

  • Apr. 4 (Sat.) -  University District Spring Ceilidh, University Friends Meeting Hall, 4001 9th Ave. NE, Seattle, from 8:00 - 10:30 PM.  $10 / $5 students & under 21.  Have some fun with a mix of simple SCD couple and party dances.  All dances taught and called.  Bring your friends.

     

  • Apr. 18 (Sat) - RSCDS Seattle Branch monthly dance at the Mercer Isl. Congregational  Church at 7:30 PM., 4545 Island Crest Way, Mercer Island. Bring a snack to share at intermission with all your fellow dancers and enjoy. Here are the dance sheets for your perusal.
     

  • Apr. 26 (Sun.) - Tacoma Spring Dance Party from 3-6 PM at their classes location, Normanna Hall, 1106 S. 15th St. with Ryan McKasson & Band playing.  See their flyer for more about the party.
     

May 2015                                      

  • May 1 - 3 (Fri.-Sun.) - Youth Weekend West in Victoria BC looks to be an exciting weekend for 2015.  Aimed at those 'under-30' or with feet that feel that young, there is a Fri. dance, and 'all ages' ball on Sat., and workshop classes on Sat. and Sun.   www.youthweekendwest.com Registration is open.

  • May 16 (Sat.) - Annual AGM meeting at 6:00 PM followed by a special dance evening at 7:30 with live music  at the Mercer Island Congregational Church.  The program for this evening is available for your study.

     

  • May 31 (Sun.) - Nannette's 60th Birthday Ball, St. Joseph Center - 215 N. 15th St., Mt. Vernon, WA   at 1:30PM.  With the music of Calum's Ceilidh Band, and with Rachel P. briefing the dances and walked through,  there will be a lunch followed by dancing for this gift of Nannette Crowell and Rodney Brandt to all of you.  Dance cues given.   Nannette needs an rsvp by April 1 for the caterers.

June 2015                                     

 

  • June 13 (Sat.) - Lake Forest Park Picnic at Logboom Park.  The LFP class will host its third annual 'Picnic in the Park' in June.  Come dance with us on Sat. between 2:00 - 4:30PM at the north end of Lake Washington.  We  will dance on the grass and have a potluck picnic.  The program will include some of the Friday Harbor party dances.   17415 - 61st Ave. NE, Kenmore, WA 98028.
     

  • June 19 - 21 (Fri. - Sun.) - All's Faire Weekend with our Branch dancing at the event, led by Lea Maiolo. Redmond class has begun practicing for this event in Jan.  If you wish to perform with them, contact Lea.
     

  • June 27 (Sat.) - Annual Friday Harbor Dance Event .  More later.

     

July 2015

  • Jul. 26 - Aug. 2 - TAC Summer School 2015  will be held at Longwood University, Farmville, VA, USA. from Sunday July 26 through Sunday August 2. Registration opened in January of this year.
