 February 2012

  • Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26 (Sun.) - Redmond winter classes at the Danceworks Studio from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.  Class taught by Lea M.   Further info on where the Danceworks Studio is can be found on the Classes page.

     

  • Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26 (Sun.) - Redmond winter classes for Step Dancing at the Danceworks Studio will be from 4:30 - 5:30 PM.  Class taught by Elizabeth  M.   Further info on where the Danceworks Studio is can be found on the Classes page, as well as costs.

     

  • Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28 (Tues.) - University District area classes for Winter quarter.  Classes offered as follows:
    Beginner technique  8:00 - 9:00 PM
    Intermediate technique 8:00 - 9:50 PM

  • Feb. 7, 14, 21, 28 (Tues.) - Social Classes at Lake Forest Park on Tuesdays (this was the Wed. class of the fall)  7:30 - 9:30 PM continue.  Every Tues. - all dancers are welcome.  Contact Elinor for more information if needed.  The address is on the Classes page of this site.

     

  • Feb. 10 (Fri.) - Challenge Class moves to second Friday of the month, this month.  It will be at Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., Seattle, classroom to be determined.  Guinevere will be playing for us this month.  Dances for the evening will be 'Minard Castle' (RSCDS Book 22), 'A Visit to Burns' Country' (Jim Rae, in A Dancing Tour Vol. 2), and 'The Invitation Dance' (Goldring's Auld Friends Meet).  We now have the room from 7 PM on, so there is time to put on shoes, etc. but must be done by 9:30 PM.

     

  • Feb. 18 (Sat.) -  Monthly RSCDS Seattle Dance at Mercer Is. Congregational Church at 7:30 PM.  Music this month will be by Calum's Ceilidh Band.  The dances are now available for your study.

     

 March 2012

  • Mar. 10 (Sat.) - Portland RSCDS 33rd Annual Workshop and Ball at the Norse Hall, Portland with Andy Imbrie, Deby Benton Grosjean and Renata Bratt musicians.   Check out their flyer for the teachers and musicians.  Registration forms are now available. Print one and mail  to Linda Mae.  Hurry while there are spots for you; have a great weekend going southward.  Early bird signup Feb. 7.

     

  • Mar. 13 (Tues.) - End of Quarter Party for the University District Class.  7:15 - 9:45PM.   Help welcome the newest dancers into the SCD community by joining the class for a program of dances learned by the beginners of this quarter.  All dances will be walked.  Suggested donation: $10 / $5 for students & under -21.  For location and queries email excoscd@gmail.com 

     

  • Mar. 17 (Sat.) - Heather Ball, Vancouver B.C. R.S.C.D.S. Branch, will be held at the Gizeh Temple in Vancouver, to the Scottish Accent music led by Laird Brown.  There are only 180 tickets sold for this event with a price break if bought before  Feb. 1, 2012.  See their flyer for more information and their website also.

     

 April 2012

  • Apr. 7 (Sat.) - University District Ceilidh 8:00 - 10:30PM at University Friends Meeting,  4001 9th Ave. NE, Seattle.  An evening of simple ceilidh dances and old favorites.  Suitable for first-time dancers.  All dancers will be taught and called.  Bring your friends.  Suggested donation:  $10 / $5 for students & under-21.

     

  • Apr. 21 (Sat.) -  Monthly RSCDS Seattle Dance at Mercer Is. Congregational Church at 7:30 PM.  Music for the evening will be by Calum MacKinnon and Guinevere Saenger.

     

  • Apr. 28 (Sat.) - 3rd Annual Dinner Dance 'Tartan & Tulips' will be happening in Vancouver, WA   This will be at Minnehaha Grange, Vancouver, with musicians Lisa Scott, Linda Danielson and Leslie Hirsch.  Registration forms can be found on their website.

     

 May 2012

  • May 4-6 (Fri.-Sun.) - Youth Weekend West, Seattle WA.  This is the first time this event will be held in Seattle, WA.  There will be a Fri. evening Ceilidh, Sat. classes, and an evening Ball at the Washington Dance Club, and Sun. morning combined class.  Teachers will be Terry Harvey (PA), Linda Mae Dennis (WA), and Jim Maiolo (WA).  More about this event in early 2012.  "Kilt not required."   www.youthweekendwest.com   Dancing for all levels.

     

  • May 19 (Sat.) -  Monthly RSCDS Seattle Dance at Mercer Is. Congregational Church at 7:30 PM.  This will follow our yearly Annual General Meeting so the dance is free to all our members.  Music by Calum's Ceilidh Band.  Support your branch by attending.

     

 June 2012

  • June 15-17 - Simply Scottish on Salt Spring II.  This year will bring teachers Elaine Brunken, Mary Murray and Geoffrey Selling with musicians David Mostardi, Mary Ross, and John Taylor.  Find out  more on  their website .

     

  • June 23 (Sat.) - Puget Sound Crossroads at Friday Harbor, San Juan Islands.  Come join us for an extraordinary summer event.  It's a ferry boat ride with friends to Friday Harbor, gathering together with a piper led walk to the hall, an afternoon of dancing with friends from many other Northwest branches and much more.  Calum and his Ceilidh Band will be playing for this event.  More details later.
     

 

 July 2012

  • July 29 - Aug. 5 (Sun. - Sun.) - TAC-Teachers' Association  Summer School is to be held at Portland State University.  Usually this happens in Canada but rarely in the U.S.  There will be classes for all levels of dancers.  Join dancers from around the world for this one.  Most people attend for the full week, but if there are spaces left you can take just the weekend classes, or come to the ball.  More later.
