Th Classes page of this website provides you general class information, locations and fees.  If you are looking for a scholarship to one of our workshops go to the Membership page.  As events are scheduled we will post them as soon as possible.  Check back often.

June 2015                                     

  • 'Get Fit for Fort Worden' this summer with a summer series of classes to prepare for the September Event.  The whole series is listed here and is on the July and August Calendars.

  • San Francisco Branch Asilomar Weekend is now accepting applications for their 2015 November 13-15th weekend. Check out the November listing below.

  • Jun 2 (Tues.) - U-District classes are at the University Heights Building, 5031 University Way NE, classroom 108, from 8:00 - 10.00PM.  Teacher is Rachel P.  Last class for spring is June 2.  Check out June 9 date below.

  • Jun 3, 10 (Wed.) - Classes are at Lake Forest Park from 7:15 -9:30 PM. weekly (At the Northwest Ballet Center, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park Towne Center.  Questions:  Call 425.488.7643)    Newcomers are welcome - your first class is free.  A partner is not necessary; wear comfy clothes and soft indoor shoes.  Enjoy fun, fitness and friendship.  Teacher is Elinor V.  Further information on the Classes page where the Qtr. start/stop dates are given.  Note: a Second Spring Class Session has been added so classes will continue through 6/10.  (5/25/15) Note that this is a change from what was posted last month.

  • Jun 4, 11, 18, 25 (Thur.) - Wenatchee Scottish Dance Classes will continue at the Irish Dance Studio , 151 Worthen St, Wenatchee,   from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.  Classes page has further info.  Call Lesley A. teacher (509.663.3743) if you need further information or are traveling through the area and would like to join in. 

  • Jun 5 - 7 (Fri - Sun.) - Bellingham Highland Games at Hovander Homestead Park, Fernale, WA.  

  • Jun 7, 14 (Sun.) - Redmond's Spring  Qtr. classes are at the DanceWorks Studio, 16641 Redmond Way, Redmond WA., from 6-8 PM.   See the Classes page of this website for cost and contact info to reach Lea M. if you have further questions.   June 14th will be dedicated to practice for the All's Faire weekend June 19 - 21 so be sure and mark your calendar for this.

  • Jun 9 (Tues.) - End of Year Party for U-Heights Class.  8:00 - 10:00 PM at U-Heights Center, 5031 University Way NE, Seattle, Rm 108.  Come and join our current dancers for an energetic blast through some of the dances learned in class this quarter.  All dances will be walked for at least one couple.  Dancing will start at 7:15 so come early and meet other dancers while you put your shoes on.  $5. ea suggested to cover rent.  Rachel is leading.

  • June 13 (Sat.) - Lake Forest Park Picnic at Logboom Park.  The LFP class will host its third annual 'Picnic in the Park' in June.  Come dance with us on Sat. between 2:00 - 4:30PM at the north end of Lake Washington.  We  will dance on the grass or the dock and have a potluck picnic.  Save your ghillies; wear "outdoor shoes".  The program will include some of the Friday Harbor party dances.  Bring chairs, hats, sunscreen, sunglasses and a pot-luck  picnic food to share.  Branch will provide plates, cups, napkins and cutlery.  17415 - 61st Ave. NE, Kenmore, WA 98028.

  • June 19 (Fri.) - Memorial Hike for Jan Bate who recently passed away. (See Home page)   The hike will be the Naches Peak Loop, NE side of Mt. Rainier (about a 4.5 mile hike)  Contact Cheryl Brower 206.285.1911 who is organizing car pools. Also call her about hike start time if you plan to meet the group at the trail start.  Should be a memorable day for honoring Jan.

  • June 19 - 21 (Fri. - Sun.) - All's Faire Weekend with our Branch dancing at the event, led by Lea Maiolo. Redmond class has begun practicing for this event in Jan.  If you wish to perform with them, contact Lea.

  • June 20 (Sat.) - BC Highland Games and Scottish Festival, Percy Perry Stadium, Coquitlam, BC.

  • June 26-27 (Fri.-Sat.) - Tacoma Highland Games, Frontier Park, Graham, WA. 

  • June 27 (Sat.) - Annual 29th Friday Harbor Dance Event co-hosted by Seattle Branch and Friday Harbor dancers.  We will have our local Ceilidh Band led by Marcia Thumma playing.  Dancing will begin about 2:00 ish until about 4:30ish, so one can catch the direct ferry back to Anacortes early evening.  We meet at the Anacortes ferry terminal (you can help those carrying the sound equipment to carry onto the ferry) and during the ride to Friday Harbor there will be dance walk-throughs.  A $15. party fee, U.S. funds, will be collected on the ferry (cash or check).  Your name badge is your receipt for entry at the dance.  If you come another way, meet us there - at the Grange Hall.  The Whale Museum is a few doors away.  A past SCD member runs the Griffin Bay Bookstore a block away and has a coffee shop with seats!  The F.H. dancers set up the hall and provide the drinks.  Please bring a finger food for intermission.  Don't forget the ice-cream shops as you go back to the ferry and there are several spots where you can get a quick dinner down near the ferry terminal.  Ferry times are found at     There is a direct ferry at 11:55am from Anacortes to Friday Harbor, arriving at 1:00pm.    It looks like the best ferry for the return to Anacortes is the 6:30pm getting to Anacortes at 7:35pm.  But please check the official schedule again, closer to time.  Allow plenty of time for finding parking at the terminal areas.  It is a bit of a walk down to the ferry from the upper parking spots.   The Program cues are here.

  • June 28 (Sun.) - No Redmond class this date.

  • June 29 (Mon.) - Memorial Gathering for Jan Bate at Northaven II, assisted living building, 531 NE 112th, St., Seattle, WA 98125, given by Jan Bate's niece, at 10:15am.  Please come and share stories. (Place shares parking lot with Northaven Senior Living. Take 5th Ave NE off Northgate going North. Turn right when you see street sign for 112th on left side;  take long apt. driveway, then right again to end of park area.  Parking spots for Northaven II are indicated.

  • Jul. 26 - Aug. 2 (Sun. - Aug.2 Sun.) - TAC Summer School 2015  will be held at Longwood University, Farmville, VA, USA. from Sunday July 26 through Sunday August 2. Registration opened in January of this year.

  • Jul. 25 - 26 (Sat.-Sun.) - Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games and Clan Gathering, Enumclaw Expo Center, Enumclaw, WA.

  • Aug. 1 (Sat.) - Spokane Highland Games, Spokane Country Fair Center, Spokane, WA.  There is a link on the St. Andrews Society site under Affiliates.  If you wish to talk to a dancer in Spokane about their classes on Thursdays  Catharine R.

  • Aug. 15 (Sat.) - Anne & Peter's Annual Summer Garden Party is happening again this summer, this date.  Co-sponsored by the Seattle Branch and the Caledonians this is a favorite for relaxing summer days.  Your invitation is here.  The dances have been decided upon and are provided here.

  • Aug. 27 (Thurs.) - Seattle Branch RSCDS annual Ft. Worden Walk-through Class #1.  Walk-throughs for Ft. Worden Weekend dances will be at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, Rm. 2, 8:00 - 10:00 pm.  Taught by Elizabeth and Ian.  Class #2 will be Sept. 3.

  • Nov. 13 - 15 (Fri. - Sun.) - RSCDS San Francisco Branch celebrates its 50th Anniversary at the Asilomar Conference Grounds, Pacific Grove, CA, USA.    Located at the Monterey Peninsula this is a unique setting for Scottish dancing. The Workshop and Ball musicians are Fiddlesticks & Ivory, Judi Nicolson and Andy Imbrie,  with teachers Jimmie Hill, Ruth Jappy, Elaine Brunken, Jeff Corrigan and Alan Twhigg.  Details and application and registration are at their website for you.
