  September 2014
 

  • Sept. 17, 24  (Wed.) - Start of Scottish Country Dance Classes at Lake Forest Park from 7:15 -9:30 PM. weekly (At the Northwest Ballet Center, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park Towne Center.  Questions:  Call 425.488.7643)   Newcomers are welcome - your first class is free.  A partner is not necessary; wear comfy clothes and soft indoor shoes.  Enjoy fun, fitness and friendship.  Attached is a flyer you can print up to share with friends who might be interested.
     

  • Sept. 24 (Wed.) - Interested in class in the Mukilteo area on Wednesdays? This would be the first class for fall.   Contact Irene P. to let her know you would like to join her class and get instructions to her home.
     

  • Sept. 21 (Sun.) -  Redmond Summer Session Classes meets at the DanceWorks Studio, 16641 Redmond Way, Redmond, WA  classes will be from 6:30 - 8:30 PM, taught by Lea M.  This is the last class of the Summer Qtr session.
     

  • Sept. 21, 28 (Sun.) - Wenatchee Scottish Dance Classes will continue on Thursdays at the Irish Dance Studio , 151 Worthen St, Wenatchee, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. Classes page has further info. Talk to Lesley A. teacher.
     

  • Sept. 28 (Sun.) - Redmond's Fall Qtr. Classes begins with this Sunday at  the DanceWorks Studio, 16641 Redmond Way, Redmond, WA .    See the Classes page of this website for time, cost and contact info to  reach Lea if you have further questions.

  • Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 (Thur.) - Wenatchee Scottish Dance Classes will continue on Thursdays at the Irish Dance Studio , 151 Worthen St, Wenatchee,   from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.  Classes page has further info.  Talk to Lesley A. teacher.
     

  • Oct. 4 (Sat.) - High Desert SCD Ball and Workshop, hosted by the High Desert Celtic Country Dancers at the Redmond, OR grange.  The workshop runs from 9:30am to 3:00pm, followed by a Ball review.  The Grand march begins at 7:30pm.  This group hosts a Sunday morning brunch before you leave.  Cost (including lunch on Sat. is $45 (by 9/24) or $50 up to time.  Teacher is Monica Pollard with music by Scottish Heart.  Contact Susie Allely for details and programme.
     

  • Oct. 4 (Sat.) - University District Ceilidh at the University Friends Meeting Hall, 4001 9th Ave., Seattle.  Students under 21 pay $5 and all else $10.  All dances will be taught and called.  This is a great event for first time dancers.  Contact Rachel- Oct.   • Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28 (Tues.) - U-District classes begin at the University Heights Building, 5031 University Way NE, classroom 108, from 8:00 - 9:55pm.  Teacher is Rachel P.  Open to all, new and returning.  Details on the Classes page of this website, rates and contact if you need to.
     

  • Oct. 12 (Sun.) - Tacoma Scottish Country Dance Classes begin this date.  See 'Classes' on this website for further information about them.
     

  • Oct. 18 (Sat.) - West Coast Scottish Step Dance Workshop, at the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 7706 25th Ave. NW, Seattle, WA.  Ron Wallace of Rohnert Park, CA will be teaching with Helen Van Mater and Chris Leininger providing live music.  Sessions will occur from 9am - 12pm, and 1:30pm - 3pm.   The Registration form is attached for you.  Contact Elizabeth Miller or Adrienne Price for further information.  There is a Seattle Branch monthly party on this same evening to pay tribute to Irene Paterson which all are welcome to attend.   • Oct. 18 (Sat.) - Seattle will have an October Monthly Dance to honor Irene Paterson for her many contributions to the Branch, at the Congregational Church of Mercer Island, 4545 Island Crest Way, at 7:30pm.  Music is  by Calum Mackinnon, Lisa Scott and Marcia Thumma, who are playing  this special event for  Irene.   She will soon move to Vancouver Is and will be missed.  This is a 'must do' event, so save the date.  Program  listed here.  Dance cues are now available.  Here is a flyer to share with others who might wish to come for the evening.  This evening is free to dancers, given by the Mukilteo Class & Friends to  honor her.
     

  • Oct. 25 (Sat.) - Bellingham Masquerade Ball in Bellingham WA begins this year with a Reception at 6:30pm with the Grand March at 7:30pm at the Majestic Ballroom, 1027 N. Forest St., Bellingham.  Come in historic dress or adorn a mask for this Grand March! Music by Calum MacKinnon, Deby Benton Grosjean, Andy Imbrie, and Ginny Snowe.     Registration is now available and program details are on their website bellinghamscd.org .  There will be a courtesy walkthrough earlier this date, also specified in detail on their site.
                                          
     

 November 2014

  • Nov. 7-9 (Fri.-Sun.) - Asilomar 2014 weekend
     

  • Nov. 14 - 15 (Fri. - Sat.) - Seattle Branch RSCDS Teacher Workshop begins with a reception on Friday evening, followed by a workshop during the day Saturday and completed in the evening with the Seattle Branch monthly dance party.  A brochure with registration form is attached.  This event welcomes teacher Mary Murray from Vancouver B.C.  with music by Lisa Scott of Portland, OR.  The dances are listed on the brochure with cues posted here.   There will be some homes available for  those coming from afar, on a first come basis, so register soon.

December 2014

  • Dec. 13 (Sat.) -  The Holiday RDSDS-Seattle Ceilidh will be at CCMI so hold the evening and work on your ceilidh act for this event.

January 2015

  • Jan. 16 - 18 (Fri. - Sun.) -  Mark your long range calendar for the Scottish Music Workshop in January, held at Ft. Casey on Whidbey Island.  You can read about it on their website.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

Treasurer

  • Build yearly budget plan to track expenses/income in general categories for Board
  • Monthly Budget report to B of D - based on QB data added onto yearly budget plan as spent/gained
  • Balance Quick Books entries against monthly bank (Skagit) statements, prior to each Board meeting
  • Verify Merchant E-solutions statements monthly (weekly in June, Jul, Aug.)
  • Monitor expenses via use of debit cards by CBF buyer and Board members
  • Prepare Quarterlys to State of WA, done electroncially
  • May 15 - 990EZ Federal taxes after working with accountant on forms. Note: 5 years form is significant and detailed. This would be year 2013. (we have 1 month on year 2009.)
  • Maintain yearly records for:
    • List of donors, including sending them acknowledgement record for their taxes.
    • List of members in ‘Accountables Record’
    • Volunteers who are members by by-laws
    • 2010/11 – send out Annual Meeting notices to all donors & members
  • Tasks done (self directed by Treasurer) yearly.
    • Pay State fees for business license (late fall for next yr)
    • Pay Insurance for CBF (Apr/May)
    • Pay website fees (names, hosting)
    • Pay advertising fees, after Board reviews
    • Auto pay for POS 1xyr fee in Nov.
    • Pay PO Box fee for yr.
    • Annual report to membership

1/2012 Banking Tasks – split between Gloria/Judi on Store cash register banking – current idea: Gloria Tues. AM reset 3 (Sun./Mon. combined into 1 bank), Judi Fri. AM reset 3 (assumes 1st reset done before store opening these days-roughly 9 AM) Both do details card summary of each bank, ready cash for deposit to bank.

1/2012 Judi to wk Qtr 4 state taxes with Mike. See if Mike would like off this task and ask if he still wishes to do yearly report early May (990EZ) Gloria to assume Qtrlys if Mike stops.
